Description

Brief sighting of a cow and calf as we departed Hunter Island.

Apologies for the poor quality image. This was the only one I was able to get, we lost them as the light failed. It is only intended to provide the location of the sighting. The whales are just under the surface in the centre of the image (position indicated by a ring of froth).

Most abundant seabird observed here. Large numbers nesting/roosting on the island. 'Wideawake' is an apt name for them.

Only 1 frigate bird and 4 red-footed boobies seen over the two days. One ruddy turnstone also circled the tender as we were getting in the water.
