The whole family were together. Chicks running around and parents supervising them. I checked the traps and left really quick, I didn't even take a decent picture :)

Description

This gull landed at a good distance from the dotterel nest, around 70 or 80m away. Both adult dotterels were in the fenced area taking care of the chicks. One of the adult dotterels suddenly took off and went straight to harass the gull. The gull had to leave the area. It was impressive to witness.

3 of them. Got really really close to the dotterels nest. The dotterel that was incubating got out and dealt with them, forcing them out fo the fenced area. Then I scared them and they flew away. Obviously they know where the nest is. Concerning..

Went down to the beach with @seanmackenzie and saw this one hanging out near the Wekatahi stream. Probably the one without a mate. Saw one of the breeding pair sitting in the nest. As the nest was empty on Tuesday morning seems unlikely that all eggs have been already laid? Who knows, or maybe she is laying some now. Whatever the case is, it's good news!

After doing my work I saw the pair going within the new fenced area, where the new nest is. Cloudy and raining at a times, let's hope it's a quiet weekend, especially tomorrow night..

Saw three dotterels out there today. Two of them were together foraging and flying around. The other one was a bit further away, closer to the water and feeding as well. On the way back I saw one near the new nest as well. Hard to tell who is who :-)
