Associated Observations:
The plant was infested by a lot of mealy bugs, that were attracting the attention of ants (Ochetellus sp.).

Several of these were securely attached to a hapless fly.

Infested by several mites. The poor fly did attempt to brush them off with its legs but it was hopeless.
