Description

SPORANGIA: subglobose or occasionally piriform, 0.5 to 1 mm. diam., or forming short plasmodiocarps, sessile and crowded, or on short, yellowish gray stalks standing singly, grayish or bluish. iridescent; sporangial wall with scanty lime deposits, often absent.

STALK: when present, short, yellowish.

PERIDIUM: thin, rugulose, sparingly calcareous, white or hyaline when empty.

CAPILLITIUM: a uniform network of slender strands filled with white lime granules.

SPORES: free, rarely loosely clustered, violet-brown, minutely spinulose, 8-11 (µm diam.

PLASMODIUM: yellowish white to yellow or orange.

HABITAT: On leaves, straw, twigs, etc., also on wood.
