Arcella (likely Arcella gibbosa)., a type of Rhizopod (or Ramicristate). About 50 spieces described. Test is organic, more transparent the younger the organism, darker to brownish for older organisms due to iron and manganese in test building units. Collected from pond water on Galiano Island, Gulf Islands, British Columbia,Canada. July 14-2004.

small, clear, mouth and anus present, nonmotile, some outer coat, bilateral symmetry
clear and rounded with brown dots and grooves on surface (reminded me of a fingerprint). One side of the organism was rounded and spherical while the other end had two rounded bumps. It was found in the algae at the bottom of a pond. no movement was observed.
Sample from 20th st storm drain barrier in lake merritt, which has been unusually stinky over the past month as if sewage or something very nutrient rich has been flowing down this pipe.
